OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of a Construction Inspector (Civil / Mechanical).
Under general supervision of the Construction Inspector Supervisor and with assistance of the Senior Construction Inspector, the selected candidate will inspect the installation of assigned District construction projects to ensure total compliance with all District safety requirements, contract documents, and pertinent State and Federal codes or regulations. Other duties will include maintaining files of all daily construction related reports such as daily inspection reports, field test results, field change orders, extra work requests, and photo logs. In addition, the successful candidate will provide technical input and support to project management on change orders, pay estimates, design and submittal review, as well as maintain inspection copies of as-built drawings, as required by Quality Assurance Measures of the Engineering Department. The successful candidate will inspect all types and phases of construction in a treatment plant or sewer collection system, including reinforced concrete and masonry, wood and structural steel framing, piping and mechanical systems, painting and architectural finishes, sewer lines and pump stations, earthwork and paving. The selected candidate will also attend meetings, schedule start-ups, shutdowns, and tie-ins of facilities with contractors and Operations and Maintenance, evaluate contractors methods, and witness required tests.
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by college level coursework or trade school training in engineering technology or construction inspection from an accredited college, university or qualified trade school, or equivalent experience. A minimum of two (2) years of work experience performing construction inspection by applying approved practices, materials, equipment and Federal, State and local safety rules and regulations to the construction of sewers, wastewater treatment plants and/or related public works construction is required. This position requires considerable knowledgeable in the construction methods related to Public Works contracts. The ability to document data regarding construction inspection activities and demonstrate both verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to organize and inspect multiple projects is required. The successful candidate will have the physical ability to don SCBA equipment and enter confined spaces to conduct inspections in environments that may contain hazardous atmospheres or plant processes which include biological waste. A valid California class C driver's license is required. International Code Council (ICC) Reinforced Concrete, Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical certification, N.A.C.E. CIP Level 1 or Level 2, American Construction Inspector Association (Division 4), American Public Works Association CPII or comparable certifications preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
