Summary:
The Patient Services Representative is a versatile role often serving as the first point of contact for patients calling and entering the facility.
This position is intended to facilitate all intake procedures and remain highly responsive to the needs of the team, the imaging center, and the patients at any given time.
May be responsible for performing specific tasks and/or covering for/training other staff.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner always.
Provides any necessary instructions and/or directions.
Informs appropriate department of patients(s) arrival Answers telephones in a pleasant and professional manner, takes messages, and deals with patient needs expeditiously Scans and uploads records to the electronic health record, sort and distribute mail and incoming faxes Ensures all pertinent insurance information and verifications and authorizations are obtained for procedures, prior to patient visit Completes patient registration, including verifying insurance as needed and updating demographics and payer/insurance information, and collecting time of service payments Accurately maintains and updates information in RIS and associated program Maintains clean, orderly waiting area (includes organization of reading materials).
Monitors waiting areas and ensures patient flow is properly managed Assists with photocopying, computer input/typing, scheduling radiology appointments, medical records calls Prepares daily deposits and processes end-of-day work as assigned Maintains office supplies Notifies Team Leader, or person in charge in the absence of the Team Leader, of equipment repair and/or building maintenance issues Adheres to all organizational, local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
Maintains strictest confidence of all patient's protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure Assumes responsibility for continually striving to meet goals as established by Newhope Imaging.

$17-$28 REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 1.
High school diploma or GED required 2.
Strong verbal and written skills 3.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally and diplomatically with all people 4.
Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service setting; preferably a minimum of six months of experience as a receptionist in a health care setting 5.
Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm 6.
Knowledge of reception tasks, office policies/procedures, and proper completion and distribution of required paperwork 7.
Working knowledge on use of telephone and computer 8.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and on the telephone to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers 9.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks 10.
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and/or written instructions.
Ability to file correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems 11.
Predictable attendance and punctuality in reporting to work and returning from breaks and meal breaks expected 12.
Bilingual English plus Spanish or Vietnamese speakers given preference ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS Combination office radiology setting.
Potential exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a radiology setting.
Varying shifts as needed.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Variety of standing, sitting, stooping, and walking.
Must be able to sit for 8 to 12 hours per day.
Requires hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
Repetitive use of the hands.
Vision must be corrected to 20/20, and hearing must be in normal range.
Must have working knowledge of computer skills and be able to view computer screens for 8 to 12 hours per day.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
Occasional stress related to changing job responsibilities, timeliness required for checking in patients, and patient volume Newhope Imaging Center complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date.
If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
